A couple weekends ago I headed north on I-75 with
Dani & Abigail in the backseat.
What would have been a long boring drive
turned out to be filled with laughing, singing
and too many to count bathroom breaks.
We sang and giggled for most of the 6 hour trip.

We were on our way to the State horseshow.
Kacey, Elijah and Danielle had accumulated enough points
to earn them a position in the State championship.

I had to stop by Hartsfield International Airport
to pick up Mark along the way.
Imagine my surprise as we passed the
Georgia National Fairgrounds
2 hours before we got to Atlanta. Whew!
I don't know why I thought it was closer to Atlanta.
Oh well, the girls were good sports when they realized
we had to drive 4 hours out of the way.
What a Happy Meal will buy!

This was Kacey's first year to qualify for State.
I am so proud of her.

Her competitiveness and determination is impressive.

Sweet girl!

This was also Elijah's first year to State.

I am so proud of him.
He remembered all the teaching and practicing
he has worked on all year.

I love to watch the kids progress each year.

My sweet boy.

We stayed nearby in a hotel and spent the days at the fairgrounds.
We rented golf carts and played the whole weekend.
There were dog shows and goat shows.
Several ponds to catch fish.

Danielle's parents are pro's at these events.
They had enough food for an army.
They had tents set up with a big ole TV
because we had to have football.
It was the opening weekend for college ball.

Mark & I were in heaven hanging with these sweeties all weekend.

Mark & I headed home before Danielle's ride.
Thankfully, I got a video.

She amazes me!

It was a special weekend.
The kids are already excited about next year.

Babies On Horses

I had to post these pictures that Danielle sent me.
Oh how I miss these kiddos!

These are from a horse show they participated in over the weekend.
Abi is riding SnowBall.
I'm not sure what she is looking at.
Quite possibly the dirt.
or her knee.

Dani is riding Tater.
They both seem to be posing.

Look at the intensity in Kacey's face.
Apparently, she was upset
because her horse, Sunny messed up.
I love that Kacey is very competitive.

Elijah looks like he's having a good run on Sassy.

I'm so amazed how the kids are improving.
They impress this MiMi!

I haven't seen them since February!
It's killing me.
But....

they are coming to see me this week
and I can't wait!

* disclaimer: I grabbed the pics off Facebook and I'm not familiar
with the photographer but they do have their stamp on each shot.

Football & Acorns

What's better than a Friday night
at a local high school football game?

The combination of 1 sweet date and some beautiful weather
and violá...
the beginning of a perfect weekend.

Then...
Mark was called into work early Saturday
and Sunday....

Oh well.
I ended up raking acorns all day Saturday.
Let me know if you need any.
I would guess I have 200 pounds of acorns.
Craziness!

My precious grandkids have been competing
on their horses this weekend.
Looks like the youngest are starting to know
what it feels like to win.
Oh how I wish I were with them.
Very thankful for a DIL who keeps me in the loop.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.
My neighborhood is hosting a block party today.
To go,
or not to go?
I'm so shy.
I don't want to go by myself.
I'm new here.
Insecurity is not pretty.
I'll probably go.
I'll take pics.

XXOOXXOO TO YOU!

Giddy-Up

I had to share some recent pictures of my grandkids.
Their skills are progressing right along.
Eli isn't satisfied with anything but a blue ribbon.

Kacey is intense.
She is strong and can handle a more stubborn horse.

Dani Mae has a horse with a injured foot.
She is riding a new horse and decided
to have mommy walk along during the race.

Abigail is purely happy to be on any horse.

Oh, if only you could hear her laugh while
she rides or yell "giddy-up."
It's priceless.
I can't get over the fact that a small child can control
such a large animal.

I love that my grandkids have this privilege.
