Renaissance

I'm staying in The Mayflower Renaissance Hotel.
It is gorgeous.
It hosts several events, including Inaugural Balls
and State dinners
and some fabulous weddings.

I regret not bringing my camera.
iPhone doesn't do it justice.

Allow me to grab some of google images.

This is like our room except we have a king.
Pretty swanky.

I enjoy walking through the halls
and peeking into the different ballrooms.

It's located smack dab in the middle of everywhere
you would want to be.

The popular choice for lunch are food trucks.
They are everywhere and the options are plentiful.

How to choose?

Flip a coin.

There is even a lobster truck!

Mark & I are doing low carbs
so it's nice to have lots of choices.

This Godiva shop
is next door to our hotel.
How many carbs is that?

We are having fun
exploring this area.
I've spent my days in the gym,
shopping, Starbucks and wandering the streets.
Of course,
our evenings are spent watching the World Series.

Go KC!!

Washington DC

I hit the ground running when I landed
in Washington DC this week.

We stayed in the JW Marriott.
It's a block from the White House.
I love being right in the middle of everything.

Are you ready for a camera dump?
Most of these pictures will be recognizable.
See if you can guess them before your read
their identification under each photo.

Mt. Vernon

White House.
I gave up on waiting for those people to move
so I could get a better photo.

Far away shot of The Capitol Building.

Did you know them all?
Mt. Vernon may have been tricky.
I have been wanting to see the home of George Washington
and it did not disappoint.
He was a land surveyor and through his job,
he obtained some gorgeous property right on the Potomac.
This 200 year old home is beautiful but I'm grateful I didn't live my life back then. No indoor plumbing...thanks but no.

It was a fun trip.
I never tire from visiting Washington, D.C.
I enjoyed my first tour of the White House.
It wasn't as big as I thought it would be.
I'm glad I did the tour but I wouldn't care to do it again.
(unless you want me to go with you)

The best part of the trip was being able to
spend some quality time with dad.
We walked our feet off and talked forever.
Good times!

Washington

Mark has been working in DC all week so I took the opportunity to join him.
I'm always up for a trip.

This was the view out our hotel window.

We were a block away from the White House.
It truly is beautiful.

I found this little seafood treasure on this trip.

It is where the locals go and man oh man,
it was so good.
This is the view while we ate.

We walked around the Potomac
and viewed the remaining cheery tree blossoms.
We were about a week late from the peak
but it was still beautiful.

I don't know what kind of tree this is.

Tulips are randomly planted everywhere.

I spent the week walking through several
museums and landmarks.
I walked for hours each day.

We spent our last evening at a Nationals baseball game.
If Mark can fit a ballgame in,
he is a happy man.

The Nationals played St. Louis.

I can't believe the week has already come and gone.
From DC,
I'm headed to Florida to spend Easter with family.

Hope you have a wonderful Easter.
