The Busiest Time Of The Year

My dear Mother has her Christmas presents wrapped.
Yes, you heard me right.
She is always ahead of the game.

You can learn a lot from my Mom.
I'm not totally sure of the month,
but Mom had her Christmas cards
signed, sealed and addressed in the summer.

Why wait?
I'm planning on running to the Bible book store today
and get started on my cards.
I have the privilege (ha) of hosting
Mark's work Christmas party again this year.
I love parties and I love, love hosting them.
I could use some ideas of what to do this year.

Last year, we had just moved to Kansas.
I knew not a soul.
I made my famous lasagna, which was a hit.
I planned a contest of decorating gingerbread houses.
It was guys against girls.
It flopped because the icing wouldn't harden
& the dang houses wouldn't stand up.
Everyone was polite about it but basically it was a flop.

It is funny to see men be crafty and competitive.
The guys won because theirs stood up.

This year,
I know not a soul.
I sound pathetic.
Oh well, that's just the way it is folks.

I would love some suggestions of what to do.

It's the menu and the "what to do to fill the time"
that I'm struggling with.
The men all know each other because they work together.
I want the women to enjoy themselves,
since they are sorta obligated to support their spouses.
Maybe they don't feel that way but I would if I were them.

Moms birthday is November 3rd.
Do you know how we spend the day?
We decorate the whole house for Christmas.

The beauty of it is that during December,
Mom has little stress and plenty of time to look fabulous
for all those parties.

OK, friends...
please send me some ideas.

Six

Elijah turned 6 and we celebrated with a Lego Party.

The day was sweltering but it didn't matter
to these kids.
Bins & bins with every kind of Lego imaginable.

There were several fun games.
This was a relay and the kids had to run down and sit on the balloon.
Once the balloon popped,
they had to find the lego and drop it in the bucket and run back to where you started & tag the next person in line.
This is the Lego relay which is similar to the famous egg race.

The kids house is perfect for parties because they
have every swing, slide, toy imaginable.

Aunt KK is the best.
Look at her playing "house" with Abi.

Time to blow out those 6 candles!

Cousin Brinleigh.

Kristen is filling up the cups with popcorn.

Abi

The birthday boy with mommy & daddy.

I am so proud of Elijah.
It seems like yesterday when he rocked my world as he made his appearance.
He is always happy and loves to laugh.
(gets that from me)
He is above average intelligent.
(gets that from Pops)
OK, so maybe he gets it from his own parents
but I'm taking the credit.
He loves to read, ride horses, swim & above all,
I would say he loves to be around people.

You don't have to go through all these pictures but I wanted to document some of my faves that I've taken through the years.

Eli & Dani.

Cowboy.

Going to Preschool.

 Swim team.

Grass angel.
It's what we do in Florida.

He loves wearing my reading glasses.

Welcome to the Big 6 Elijah!

If you stayed with me this long,
I'm guessing you are family.

Is he gorgeous or what!?

I tell ya,
I love this kid!

OK, 1 more.

The End.

Kristen's Birthday

March is the month we celebrate Kristen and her birthday.
This year Mark & I flew to Florida for the big day.

First stop…
Anthropologie!

How fun!
We told her to pick out everything she wanted.

(I borrowed this pic off google images because the website doesn't show the actual one she chose.)

She tried on lots of amazing clothes
& added her faves to the basket.
I'd share pics but I don't remember what all she got.

Then she decided she needed a butter dish.
Yes please.
We celebrated the whole weekend
& topped it off with a party at my parents house.

Happy Birthday my pretty little princess.

These special times, these moments…
Priceless!
